Rashaun & Dampier: A very Seattle love story and New Year’s Eve wedding celebration

I’ve never shot a more Seattle wedding: Rashaun and Dampier rode a King County Metro bus and then the Sound Transit Link light rail to arrive at their New Year’s Eve wedding celebration at Sole Repair Shop on Capitol Hill. And of course we had to stop for a photo at the landmark Dick’s Drive-In, where these two amazing people first met.

About halfway through the evening, the bride surprised her groom by having two golden dancers join the party and deliver Dick’s burgers to the crowd—the start of “la hora loca” in honor of the groom’s Peruvian culture and the Latin American tradition amping up the celebration with masks, party favors and more. The magical evening continued with a midnight balloon drop, sparklers in the street and finally a rare Seattle snowfall that we captured as the bride and groom kissed in the middle of one of Capitol Hill’s rainbow crosswalks.
